Pairing your roasts with a sauce or side can be very difficult. This is because you don’t want to make something that is overpowering or just doesn’t combine. You also want to make something that everyone will enjoy, even the pickiest of eaters. In today’s post we will be looking at the most amazing Apple Chutney sauce that will be a hit at your next cookout.
Recipe
- 6lb of frozen or fresh apples (peeled and large sliced)
- 1 large can of apple sauce
- 4 lb onions - chopped.
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 cup white sugar
- 4 cup sultana
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 4 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
- Sauté onion lightly in the oil.
- Add apples, apple sauce, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar and bring to a boil.
- Add sugar, sultanas, and salt, bring back to a boil and then turn down to a low simmer.
- Cook for 1-2 hours until it darkens in colour stirring regularly to prevent it from sticking.
Storage
Find a jar that can be sealed airtight. With all pickles, it is best made 2 weeks in advance but can be served straight away!
This recipe can be adapted to your own taste by simply adding more spice or sugar.
